DJI Mini 4 Pro flying

DJI has announced the next in their line of light-weight drones, the Mini 4 Pro. This sub-250 gram drone offers a powerful 48MP camera, up to 45 minutes of flight time, and multi-direction obstacle avoidance.

The mini line of drones from DJI have focused on delivering the best possible camera and flight features with the target goal of a completed flight weight of 249g. This is important for legal reasons. While you most likely still require proper licensing, and this does not exclude you from following the rules of the sky, a sub-250g drone usually does not require direct registration before flight.

The DJI Mini 4 Pro offers a 1/1.3-inch CMOS camera set at 48MP of resolution. Photos at full resolution are good, but the best possible images from the Mini 4 Pro are at 12MP. This pixel-binning technique has been around for a while, greatly improving image quality without needing a larger and heavier sensor.

The craft itself weighs about 171.1g. The standard battery weighs 77.9g, for a total flight weight of 249g. In this configuration, the Mini 4 Pro enjoys around 34 minutes of flight time in optimal conditions. The extended Intelligent Flight Battery Plus weighs 121g, putting your drone over-weight for legal considerations, but it jumps up to 45 minutes of flight time.

An omnidirectional binocular vision system is supplemented with a 3D infrared sensor to enhance flight safety. This means the Mini 4 Pro is equipped with APAS and can offer all-direction obstacle avoidance.

Traveling across the sky, the Mini 4 Pro maxes out at around 36MPH in sport mode. In normal flight modes, the speed is reduced to about 26MPH, but that comes with the obstacle avoidance. The drone can manage up to 25KM of flight range, with a connection range of up to 20KM. Please remember to follow the line-of-sight laws in your area.
