Xiaomi-backed YI Technology is a company who you may not be too familiar with, but they are hoping that you will be very soon. The company consists of teams from all across the world, ranging from the US, China, Japan, and Israel, and is looking to make a lasting impression on both the action camera and drone markets. To do this, they are looking to start 2017 off with a bang, by releasing an action camera that can film in 4k at 60 fps, as well as a new drone that can apparently reach speeds of up to 75 miles per hour.
The new action cam the company is looking to show off is the third product they have released under this category. Based off the YI 4k, the new YI 4k+ will be able to shoot double the frame rate of its predecessor, and should come in at quite an affordable price. YI says the aim for the device is to allow for more realistic, high quality video content available to anyone.
YI is also hoping the show will help to get its new drone off the ground. The new product, which the company is calling the YI Erida, uses the YI 4k Action camera to produce high quality footage pivoted on a three-rotor design. The drone uses a lightweight carbon frame, and YI says it can achieve about 40 minutes of flight time and speeds of up to 75 miles per hour. The drone was apparently designed in collaboration with members of Atlas Dynamics, a group of aerospace engineers that wanted to help make something both capable and portable.
YI is hoping that both of these products help them break into the space that is dominated by companies such as GoPro and DJI. We have to admit they have some pretty unique features, but it has yet to be seen if the products can actually perform as well as the company is touting
